A magnificent building built almost entirely of wood, the Lanikuhonua Cultural Institute becomes in Murder Mystery 2 a sublime bar where the characters meet when the Maharaja (Adeel Akhtar) is kidnapped and a ransom is demanded. It is here that the super detective played by Mark Strong intervenes before the departure of a part of the protagonists to Paris.
Mystery in Hawaii
The entire first part of the Murder Mystery 2 shoot took place in Hawaii, Honolulu and other outlying areas. Jennifer Aniston, Adam Sandler and the rest of the cast arrived at the site in January 2022 before flying to Paris.
Murder Mystery 2 was therefore shot more or less in order to optimize travel and control production costs.
An independent suite
Jeremy Garelick wanted to give fans of the first Murder Mystery an even more spectacular and funny sequel. He explained his approach to the Screenrant website: “I don’t know many good comedy sequels; I haven’t seen many good comedy sequels. So when I had the opportunity to do Murder Mystery 2 I really wanted this to be a standalone movie. So I approached it as if you didn’t need to see the first film.“
Murder Mystery 2 marks the third collaboration between Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston after Just Go with It and Murder Mystery.
Lanikuhonua Cultural Institute
This institute is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Hawaiian culture. It hosts various events throughout the year.
Nestled in the heart of a veritable earthly paradise, the Lanikuhonua Cultural Institute includes several pavilions, a 200-space car park, superbly maintained houses and gardens. The latter highlighting the fauna of the Hawaiian archipelago, at the edge of a white sand beach. Its name means “where Heaven meets Earth.”
