Banks House

TV show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1990)
Based on a dynamic centered on the gap between the different social classes in the United States, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air brought Will Smith, a rapper who was then unknown to viewers, to the attention of the general public. An aspiring star at the center of a hilarious show, whose home is actually located in the Brentwood neighborhood.

“Oh My God, Carlton! What’s That Hideous Thing Growing Out Of Your Neck?… Ah, Never Mind. It’s Just Your Head.”

William “Will” Smith (Will Smith)

The filming of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air begins at Hollywood Center Studios. Upstream, the scouting operations allowed us to select the house where the show would be officially hosted. A home visible from the first minutes of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, when Will Smith, a boy from the poor neighborhoods of Philadelphia, comes knocking on the door of his aunt and uncle. The latter being from the Californian bourgeoisie.

Strangely enough, two shoots are taking place during the first days of the production. While The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air exploits the luxurious facade, with its beautiful columns, Beverly Hills 90210 takes Brenda (Shannen Doherty) and Brandon (Jason Priestley) Walsh to the same mansion for a party in the upscale part of town. This telescoping will later cause some confusion among fans. Some thought that The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air‘s villa was also the one used as the Walsh residence in Beverly Hills 90210.

The house was also visited by Prince Harry of England during an episode of the Late Late show with James Corden. Meghan Markle’s husband having gone to ring the doorbell of the mansion like Will Smith in his time, playing in a way the remake of the introduction of the series, to the great surprise of the current owners of the place.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air welcomedabout forty celebrities during its six seasons during its six seasons, such as Richard Roundtree, Quincy Jones, Naomi Campbell B.B. King and Tom Jones.

Fresh Prince of Bel Air

Hidden behind a gate, on either side of a wall of vegetation, this villa built in 1937 was estimated at almost 10 million dollars.

The 600-square-foot luxury colonial mansion embodies the glamour of Brentwood Park at the foot of the Santa Monica Mountains. Owners can count celebrities like Steven Spielberg, Jim Carrey, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Cindy Crawford among their neighbors. Overlooked by the famous Getty Center, the White House-like property has five bedrooms and five bathrooms. It also benefits from a vast plot of land in which a magnificent English-style garden with a beautiful gazebo has been laid out. Its huge swimming pool, surrounded by deck chairs, transforms the place into a paradise on earth.
