-Ah, good morning, Amélie-mélo ! A fig and nuts, as usual?

-The people who lived in my flat, in the ies. Do you remember them?

-Tough question! I was in the ies. Just like this moron today.

Come on, look at him! It’s as if he’s picking up a bird that’s fallen from the nest! You’re lucky you don’t want grapes, you’d have gotten it on Monday!

Come on, move, you retard! The lady has other things to do!

Right. Go and see my mother. She’s got a memory like an elephant. Mum-ephant!

– Thanks.

Monsieur Collignon (Urbain Cancelier) and Amélie Poulain (Audrey Tautou)

Frequently, Amélie Poulain (Audrey Tautou) goes to the Marché de la Butte, a grocery store located at the bottom of her building, number 58.

One of his little pleasures is to dip his hand in bags of seeds. After making this gesture, she asks Mr. Collignon (Urbain Cancelier) if he doesn’t know the family who lived in his apartment in the 1950s. She discovered, hidden behind a skirting board, a memory box. She would like to return the object to its owner.

In the pouring rain, the shopkeeper advised him to go and ask his mother. Previously, he has, as usual, humiliated his employee Lucien (Jamel Debbouze) in front of his customers. Without saying anything, Amélie sends him a sign of comfort.

For the aesthetics of the film and in order to make it as real as possible, technicians cleaned the streets and graffiti during each sequence filmed.

Au Marché Montmartre

Au marché Montmartre in the 18th arrondissement of Paris has been known since the filming of Amélie.

Au marché Montmartre is a small neighborhood grocery store selling fruits, vegetables, creamery products and frozen foods. It was discovered by Jean-Pierre Jeunet who decided to shoot several scenes of his film Amélie. He renamed it Au marché de la Butte.

Its owner, Ali, has kept the decorations, including the famous sign “Maison Collignon” and many press clippings. It is also possible to buy postcards from the film.

This iconic place is also used as a set in the series Sense8 when the cab taken by Rajan drops him off right in front of it.
