This song is about a fleeting encounter in Angoulême and features the station.

Jacques Higelin

October 2002. Jacques Higelin arrives at Angoulême station. He is scheduled to perform that evening in a concert at the theatre. On the platform, the singer met a beautiful stranger. Brief as it was, this encounter left its mark on him. When he began his show, in front of a delighted audience, Jacques Higelin did not intend to follow the set list to the letter and preferred to improvise about the woman he had met earlier in the day. For twenty-five minutes, the troubadour sculpts his new composition live. However, the album Beau Repaire, recorded at La Fabrique in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, was not released until ten years later.

Jacques Higelin has performed in Angoulême several times. In 2009, at the Festival de bande dessinée, he crossed swords with the cartoonist Christophe Blain, again at the theatre, for a drawing concert. His daughter Izïa also played at the Garden Nef Party.

Angoulême Gare SNCF

Inaugurated on September 20, 1852, the Angoulême train station was built the same year the railroad arrived in the city.

The work on the station incorporated part of the former Royal College of the Navy. Napoleon III came for the inauguration on October 10, 1852. Sadly famous for having seen the transit of trains bound for concentration camps during the Second World War, it was also bombed on June 15, 1944 by American planes. The attack caused hundreds of deaths and extensive damage. 1,826,364 travelers passed through in 2019. The Angoulême station is open to freight service.
