American Museum of Natural History

Saga Night at the Museum
Movie Night at the Museum Shawn Levy (2006)
At night, all the tenants of the American Museum of Natural History come to life. Stuffed animals, dinosaur skeletons, wax statues... All of them have great adventures when the visitors have left... Based on a concept reminiscent of Toy Story, Night at the Museum is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Milan Trenc.

Theodore Roosevelt (Robin Williams)

The blockbuster is driven by a cast of prestigious actors including Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, Rami Malek and Steve Coogan. They play the characters brought to life at night, and confronts the new guardian played by Ben Stiller. He plays a newly recruited security guard, whose predecessors are all camped out by prestigious actors, namely Dick Van Dyke, one of the stars of Mary Poppins, Bill Cobbs, who was seen in The Sopranos, Bird and The Color of Money, and Mickey Rooney, the former darling child star of Hollywood having subsequently made a name for himself in Pete’s Dragon as well as the series The Black Stallion.

While the action is supposed to take place within the walls of the prestigious American Museum of Natural History in New York, it was in Vancouver that Night at the Museumwas mainly filmed. Nevertheless, the iconic Natural History Museum, one of the largest in the city, appears on the screen. Director Shawn Levy’s crews used the building for exterior plans, while the decorators took inspiration from the space to reconstruct the interior.

That’s the number of days Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson shared on the set of the film. Most of their scenes were shot separately.

American Museum of Natural History

Like many of New York’s cultural monuments and sites, the American Museum of Natural History has had the privilege of being featured in several films and series. And if it appears in The Exorcist II, The Squid and the Whale or Splash, it is indeed in The Night at the Museum that we think of first when we cross its threshold …

Opened in 1877, the American Museum of Natural History was formerly located in the Central Park Arsenal.

In neo-Gothic style, the museum has one of the richest collections in the world. 32 million specimens and various and varied objects are gathered there.

Popular in particular for its dioramas depicting animals in their natural environment and for its dinosaur skeletons, the T-Rex playing a significant role in The Night at the Museum, this cultural mecca welcomes an average of 5 million visitors every year.
