12 Grimmauld Place
Harry Potter is expelled from Hogwarts for using magic in the presence of a Muggle. That evening, Alastor Maugrey (Brendan Gleeson), Nymphadora Tonks (Natalia Tena) and Kingsley Shacklebolt (George Harris) come to the wizard’s rescue. They lead him straight to 12 Grimmaurd Square to stay there for the duration of his trial at the Ministry of Magic.
Young Harry is happy to be reunited with his godfather, Sirius Black (Gary Oldman), and his friends Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson). It was also on this night that Harry learned about the Order of the Phoenix. This secret society, founded by Dumbledore, intends to thwart the plans of the terrible Lord Voldemort. Later, Harry, Ron and Hermione join 12 Grimmauld Place in Deathly Hallows Part 1 when they are being chased by Death Eaters.
From 12 Grimmauld Place to 25 Claremont Square
When choosing the actual location of Grimmauld Place, Stuart Craig, the head set designer, knew what he was looking for. “One of London’s Georgian squares among their early 19th century houses.” Located a stone’s throw from King’s Cross, 25 Claremont Square was quickly chosen. All the magic of the appearance of number 12 was done digitally, first in one dimension, then two and finally three with the appearance of the balcony and the grids.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix received two awards, the 2008 People’s Choice Awards for Favorite Drama and the 2007 Teen Choice Awards for Best Drama, Action or Adventure Film of the Summer.
