Rue Ravignan
Among the rare Parisian arteries filmed in a real setting, Rue Ravignan is the scene of a walk by Édith (Marion Cotillard) and Simone (Sylvie Testud).
Most of the other scenes in Olivier Dahan’s feature film were shot in Prague. The capital of the Czech Republic is reputed to resemble the Paris of the early 20th century.
This is the number of admissions made by the film in France for a little over 29 million euros reported.
The actress Marion Cotillard is not a singer. If her physical interpretation – after transformation – enchanted the audience and the critics, she was dubbed for the sung parts of the film. For this, Jil Aigrot was chosen. The artist nevertheless had to make many recordings before finding the right intonation for Édith Piaf.
Rue Ravignan
Rue Ravignan is one of the oldest arteries of the Butte Montmartre in Paris. It is located in the 18th district of the capital.
Before being baptized by the name of the French Jesuit father Gustave-Xavier-François de la Croix de Ravignan, it was known under the patronymic of Vieux chemin or rue du Vieux chemin-de-Paris during the French Revolution.
Many personalities lived in this street, including the physicist Paul Langevin, the pianist Arthur Rubinstein, the poet Pierre Reverdy, but also Max Jacob at No. 7. The writer saw the image of Christ on one of the walls of his house. This event made him convert to Catholicism.
