“If you are out there… if anyone is out there… I can provide food, I can provide shelter, I can provide security. If there’s anybody out there… anybody… please. You are not alone.”

Robert Neville (Will Smith)

Robert Neville (Will Smith) attempts to contact potential survivors. To do this, he records a voice message and broadcasts it over the airwaves. He explains that he will be at South Street Seaport every day at noon to meet him in New York.

In his speech, he promises food and shelter to anyone who comes to him.

1965

The year Egypt offered the temple of Dendur to the United States.

In the scene, Robert is fishing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the pond near the temple of Dendur. This Egyptian temple reconstructed in real size in this huge hall decorated with a glass roof overlooking Central Park is certainly one of the places to see if you decide to visit this gigantic museum where 10,000 m2 are open to visitors.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Ranked among the world’s greatest museums, The Metropolitan Museum of Art is packed with priceless pieces.

When it opened its doors on February 20, 1872, The Metropolitan Museum of Art was not at its present location but at 681 5th Avenue. It moved in 1873 to the Douglas Mension at 128 West 14th Street before settling permanently on the edge of Central Park in a mausoleum designed by the architects Calvert Vaux and Jacob Wrey Mould.

Today, the Met is twenty times larger in surface area than it was when it opened, thanks in particular to its many extensions.

It seems impossible to go around it in one day, as the number of works and artefacts is so immense. Whether it is the permanent collections, the sections devoted to American painting and sculpture, Near Eastern antiquities, weapons and armor, African and Asian arts, European painting, or the temporary exhibitions, The Metropolitan Museum of Art shows an incredible diversity.

It is possible to admire everything from legendary musical instruments to the works of Leonardo da Vinci, from abstract art to photographs. Paintings by Vermeer, Van Gogh, Renoir, Pollock or Turner can also be found here.

Every year, his famous gala raises funds for the Anna Wintour Costume Center.
