“- Look, put yourself in your kid’s shoes. Where would you go? What would you do?

– I’d probably be lying dead in a gutter somewhere… but not Kevin, Kevin is so much stronger and braver than I am. But he’s still a kid lost in a big city, he doesn’t deserve that. He should be at home with his family around his Christmas tree… oh my God, I know where he is, I need to get to Rockefeller Center immediately. ! !

– Come on, get in.”

Kate McCallister (Catherine O’Hara) addressing a police officer

After flying to New York, Kate McCallister (Catherine O’Hara) searches for her son, Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) in the city. She then goes to Times Square.

She shows a picture of her son but to no avail. She then runs to a police car to talk to one of the two officers. If he tries to reassure her, he explains that the police are on the case. After a few questions, she has a flash of lucidity: she knows that Kevin is at the foot of the Rockefeller Center tree.

During the editing and production work, the writer John Hugues looked at a third scenario, as he had done for the first two opuses. He’d started a plot in which Kevin McCallister would be a teenager. But Macaulay had already turned the page on comedy in 1994, bringing the project to a halt.

Times Square

Manhattan neighborhood, Times Square is the place for all meetings in New York. Inhabitants and tourists meet by the light of the gigantic neon lights.

It never gets dark in Times Square. Since the advent of electric advertising in the early 20th century, the “Crossroads of the World” has been flooded with light.

And despite its many artifices, Times Square has reflected the city in its true light throughout the ages: the grandeur of Broadway, the decadence of the 1929 stock market crash, the liberation of morals, insecurity, renewal, flamboyance…
