Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel
You’ll have to wait a little while to discover Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel. Planned, if all goes well, in July, it will turn the heads of all Marvel fans. With its decorated rooms, restaurants, bars and pool complex, the establishment is in danger of being quickly overrun.
The former New York Hotel is being transformed to accommodate the Avengers’ worlds. Closed since January 2019, former clients are unlikely to recognize it, except for its façade.
Inside, everything will have changed for a dizzying dive in New York and especially Manhattan, a city dear to Tony Stark.
As David Wilson, Vice President Walt Disney Imagineering told Le Parisien: “This hotel will be dedicated to the celebration of Marvel art. New York is the city from which many superheroes come and the artists who created them”.
An extensive investment plan
Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel is also a great way to celebrate Marvel’s 80th anniversary. It should be pointed out that since the American firm bought the House of Ideas, it has been multiplying events. In addition to films such as Avengers and Spider-Man, she will show the universe in her theme parks, such as in Hong Kong in 2023 and Epcot (Florida) in 2021.
Thus, the management of Disneyland Paris has decided to invest 2.1 billion euros over the next ten years to develop the park. Not everything in this envelope will be dedicated to Marvel. One of them is the refurbishment of the Hotel New York. The attractions budget amounts to 750 million euros. Again, not just for the Avenger world. But it gives an idea of the financial power that investors can deploy.
Sleeping with Spider-Man
The 549 former rooms of the Hotel New York have been transformed to accommodate future guests. A total of 471 will be classic Clubs decorated with Marvel artwork. The 65 Empire State Club rooms will offer a unique design. In addition, there are 25 sequels, two of which are presidential.
The happy guests of the suites will be able to sleep with Spider-Man or the Avengers and be immersed in these worlds through special creations. References will also creep into the bedroom furniture.
Original works
With its 300 works, Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel will be one of the largest collections in the world of the Marvel universe.
Spread throughout the hotel, they will be composed of unique objects created just for this establishment. Disneyland Paris commissioned them from more than 50 Marvel Comics artists and Marvel studios. Visitors will be able to see film illustrations, storyboards, posters, sketches, research and comic book covers.
Drinking with Tony Stark or eating with Thor…
After passing through the hotel’s doors, guests will be greeted in a huge Art Deco style lobby. In particular, they will be able to discover life-size sculptures from the Iron Man films.
They will be able to enjoy the Empire State Lounge, a private area dedicated to breakfast. Two restaurants and two bars will also be open:
Manhattan Restaurant
Under an Asgard-inspired chandelier, visitors will be able to eat dishes reminiscent of the family’s Italian trattoria using fresh local produce, all served at the table.
Downtown Restaurant
Buffets prepared in front of customers by the chefs will be a mix of traditional American dishes but also those from Little Italy or Chinatown. They will also be able to taste specialities inspired by the Marvel universe. For a superhero atmosphere, the walls will be adorned with 90 pencil portraits of the mythical figures of the House of Ideas, some of which will be new.
Skyline Bar
This elegant bar will offer a 360° view of the New York skyline. A dizzying moment that guests can accompany with refined wines or Marvel cocktails. Maybe they’ll run into Tony Stark there for a toast.
Lounge Bar
After a beautiful day in Disney parks, what better place to rest than this lounge? A la carte, wines, homemade beers, coffees and organic chocolates, all in a Manhattan loft atmosphere.
Meet the Avengers
The ideal place to meet the Avengers is Super Hero Station. Every morning, photo points will be offered to children and adults alike to take pictures with Thor, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America and many others.
Thus, Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel will be the first place in the world to offer these encounters with the superheroes of the House of Ideas.
Swim or play sports with Captain America
A gigantic aquatic complex will be open for guests. There is an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, a children’s pool, a hammam, a sauna and a jacuzzi.
Next door, the more sporty can enter the Metro Health Club, a fitness centre equipped with sports machines and accessories. Outdoor sports activities will also be offered.
The Marvel Design Studio will welcome the whole family and especially children to learn how to draw Marvel superheroes. The atmosphere is reminiscent of the studios where comics are imagined. Finally, customers will be able to buy souvenirs in the New York Boutique.
Huge green spaces
To enjoy the sunshine, visitors will be able to take a walk in a huge green area. The former ice rink will be transformed into a 800 m2 lawn.
The green spaces of the New York hotel will be redesigned to be closer to the French gardens. Surrounded by skyscrapers, this place will bloom with the green ambiance of Manhattan, like Bryant Park.
Reservations for Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel opened on November 5, 2019. For lovers of the Marvel universe, you can already rent a room or a suite.
Note that Disneyland Paris has also announced an attraction featuring Spider-Man for 2021. Web Slingers will be located on Campus Avengers, a new land. It will mix real sets and interactive screens. Visitors will be able to interact directly in the attraction.
