Daniel without Harry, the locations of Daniel Radcliffe's films
From notary clerk to student to electronic engineering, Daniel Radcliffe has diversified after Harry Potter. Here’s a sample!
Admiral’s Arch – December Boys
The four December Boys orphans have the opportunity to choose their holiday location. Originally from the north of Australia, they choose the south. The adventure takes them to places, each more sumptuous than the next, such as Admiral’s Arch. Dug by weathering and erosion over thousands of years, the impressive cave can be visited and offers a sensational spectacle. In addition, it is a nature reserve where many fur seals and brown seals take refuge. Breathtaking scenery.
Address: Admiral’s Arch, Kangaroo Island, South Australia, Australia
Cotterstock Hall – The Woman in Black
The young notary clerk Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe) goes to a sinister village for a banal succession story. But this short stay turns into a real horror movie. Eel Marsh House, in which Arthur investigates strange phenomena, is actually Cotterstock Hall. Situated in the small village of Cotterstock, the house is centrally located near St Andrews Church. A perfect setting for the film, the building was built in 1658. Sometimes coincidences are strange. In 1989, a television version of The Woman in Black was filmed with Adrian Rawlins in the title role. This actor is also known for having played James Potter, Harry Potter’s father in the cult saga.
Address: Cotterstock Hall, Cotterstock, Peterborough, UK
Columbia University – Kill Your Darlings
Allen Ginsberg (Daniel Radcliffe) is a student at the renowned Columbia University. It is within these walls that he will meet many people such as Lucien Carr (Dane DeHaan), William S. Burroughs (Ben Foster) and Jack Kerouac (Jack Huston). It was on the set of Kill Your Darlings that Daniel Radcliffe met his partner, Erin Darke, interpreter of Gwendolyn.
Address: Columbia University, New York, USA
Spin Toronto – What If
Wallace (Daniel Radcliffe) goes out with Chantry (Zoe Kazan) in this bar to play table tennis before learning that she actually has a boyfriend. With a surface area of 1100m2, Spin Toronto is a club with twelve table tennis tables, two DJ booths, two main rooms and a semi-private lounge.
Address: 461 King Street West Lower Level, Toronto, Canada
Eve’s Diner – Horns
The Eve’s Diner, which Ig (Daniel Radcliffe) attends, is actually the Rocko’s 24 Hour Diner. Opened in 1956, this historic diner is one of the ten most famous film locations in Canada according to USA Today. It is home to the heroes of the Riverdale series. Initially, Shia LaBeouf was to play the lead role but his schedule was a problem, prompting the production to choose Daniel Radcliffe.
Address: Rocko’s 24 Hour Diner, 32786 Lougheed Hwy, Mission, British Columbia, Canada
Macao Science Center – Now You See Me 2
Walter Mabry (Daniel Radcliffe) asks the Cavaliers team to steal the data mining device he designed himself before being expelled from his own company. The elusive magicians will therefore design an extraordinary robbery in this science centre. Designed in 2001, this beautiful building houses the Macau Science Center. Its recognizable asymmetrical shape has become one of the symbols of the region. If Daniel Radcliffe had already tried his hand at magic in Harry Potter, he had to go back to school in Now You See Me 2 since one of the scenes required him to perform a trick with a card. The director, Jon M. Chu, wanted all the tricks to be done by the actors and asked them to take classes with the magician Andrei Jikh.
Address: Macao Science Center, Macao, Avenida Dr. Sun Yat-sen
Luffenholtz Beach – Swiss Army Man
Hank (Paul Dano) is about to take his own life when he sees a man (Daniel Radcliffe) stranded on the beach. Even though he is dead, Hank will make him his best friend and hopes that he will come back. Despite the completely absurd scenes, the film won numerous awards including Best Film and Best Actor for Daniel Radcliffe at the 2016 Catalonia International Film Festival.
Address: Luffenholtz Beach, 1639 Trinidad Scenic Drive, Trinidad, California, USA
