In 2002, the portion of State Route 19 located between Brownsville and the town of Nutbush was renamed Tina Turner Highway; the singer having spent her childhood in the region. The singer spent her childhood in the area, and she cites this famous State Route 19 in her song Nutbush City Limits. The artist’s childhood home was destroyed.
