Since its opening, the Langham Hotel has welcomed the greatest. Since 1870, its many innovations such as electricity, hydraulic elevators and air conditioning have attracted and fascinated.
The Prince of Wales, Louis Napoleon III, Charles Dickens and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle stayed there.
During the Second World War, the premises were used as a military and rescue post to help the war effort. A large part of the west wing was destroyed during the bombing.
The BBC bought the building in the 1950s and used many of the rooms as offices. A famous radio program called “Grand Hotel” was broadcast there.
