Inside, the furniture and various decorative objects belonged to Hemingway and his family. The author bought the house for $8,000.
The cats that still inhabit the place are descendants of those owned by the novelist.
In 1940, Hemingway left Key West for Cuba, while his wife, Pauline, and his two children, Patrick and Gregory, stayed behind.
When Ernest Hemingway died in 1961, his sons immediately sold the house at auction for $80,000.
Today it is possible to visit the house, which is a National Historic Landmark, a Literary Landmark, and registered with the Library of Congress as an American Historic Building.
