In 1958, the vast project to build a residential complex was launched on a site used as an airfield and maneuvering field for tanks during the First World War. The foundation stone was laid on February 28, 1959. In 1968, 2137 housing units, including 56 pavilions, were available. Over the years, the city expanded and justified the construction of nine schools, including the Romain Rolland college. A shopping center was also built. The buildings were also progressively renovated in order to offer more comfort and security to the inhabitants.
