From lectures to meditation sessions, from readings to research sessions, the Self-Realization Fellowship in Encinitas, California has been a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the city since 1936. Ideally located, facing the Pacific Ocean, it provides a teaching in line with the precepts of its founder Paramahansa Yogananda. It was here that Paramahansa Yogananda wrote his autobiography. The complex includes an ashram and a retreat center. There are also centers in Hollywood and San Diego. Ravi Shankar owned a house next door.
