Built following the Millennium Festivities in 1896, the museum was inaugurated on December 1, 1906. The museum’s collection consists of ten thousand pieces of international art such as the painting Thalia by Michele Pannonio, or the Madonna and Child by Giovanni Boccati.
The museum is an intersection of several architectural styles. The central body of the museum is realized in a neo-renaissance style, while the facade is in a neoclassical style.
