Address LE MAINE GIRAUD 16250 Champagne-Vigny, France

Le logis du Maine-Giraud is located in the commune of Champagne-Vigny in the Charente department.

In 1768, the Marquis de Baraudin, Alfred de Vigny’s grandfather, acquired the estate. His grandson visited for the first time in 1823.

This beautiful manor belonged to him between 1827 and 1863. He lived there with his wife Lydia between 1850 and 1853.

In addition to the square tower to the west of the house, there is a polygonal tower in the centre. Dated 1464, it served as a study for the writer.

The estate produces pineau which can be bought after visiting its distillery.
