Built on one of the few natural ports on the Mediterranean coast, where men already traded during Antiquity, the bell tower of Collioure has had several incarnations over the centuries. It was really at the end of the 17th century that Vauban took the decision to transform a defense tower into a bell tower, giving the town one of its most famous monuments. Very well preserved, it now sees boats pass by and welcomes tourists from all over the world.
