Address Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc 167-165 Boulevard J. F. Kennedy, 06160 Antibes, France

Built in 1870 by the founder of Le Figaro, Hippolyte de Villemessant (1810-1879), the Hotel Cap-Eden-Roc has become an icon of the French Riviera.

Originally called “Villa Soleil”, the hotel was a resting place for journalists and writers. Thus, Jules Verne and Anatole France were among the privileged guests of the place. The latter even has a commemorative plaque in the pine forest, where he liked to sit and write.

Then the place was transformed into a hotel in 1889, attracting a clientele of wealthy British and Russians. Its name was changed in 1914 to Eden Roc.

Francis Scott Fitzgerald, Marc Chagall and Rita Hayworth stayed there.

Since its purchase in 1969 by Rudolf Oetker, it has been managed by the Oetker Collection company.
