Address Fort de Cormeilles-en-Parisis 1 Route Stratégique, 95240 Cormeilles-en-Parisis, France

Built between 1874 and 1877, the fort of Cormeilles-en-Parisis was an important artillery building designed to protect the capital.

A garrison of over 1,000 men, including 36 officers and accompanied by 14 horses, was established in the fort of Cormeilles-en-Parisis. It was equipped with anti-aircraft guns during the First World War to shoot down the Zeppelins that came to bomb Paris.

Retired from its military function since 1997, it is currently managed by the association “Amis du Fort de Cormeilles” (“Friends of Cormeilles Fort”). This one ensures the safeguarding and the restoration of it. Film shoots and artists’ workshops provide the necessary funds for the maintenance and the various building sites.
