This natural site is in the form of a shallow lagoon and is therefore particularly suitable for swimming. Many hikers stop here on their way back from a walk in the Douglas fir forests along the shore. These forests are among the oldest in the region. Surrounded by a sand and gravel barrier and connected to the screen by a channel, the Esquimalt Lagoon has been shaped over the centuries by the waves. It is also a great place to watch the sunset each evening. Every day, many ducks, swans and herons rub shoulders with kayakers under the benevolent gaze of the Olympic Mountains and their eternal snow.
