Address El Retiro Park Plaza de la Independencia, 7, 28001 Madrid, Spain

A large green space in downtown Madrid, with an area of 125 hectares, Retiro Park includes many monuments.

Built around the monument to the glory of King Alfonso XII, the Retiro Park was inaugurated in 1640 after a decade of work. With more than 15,000 trees, it is the green lung of the Spanish capital. It was originally a royal residence. For this reason, several exceptional buildings such as the Bon Retiro Theater, the Army Museum or the Salon de Reinos were built there. The place, listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site since July 25, 2021, is also home to many statues. It is one of the most popular places in the city.
