The construction of the Alcazaba contributes to making Almería a medina. The monument is intended primarily to accommodate the local government. It consists of several fortresses for the garrisons but also the governors. Very well preserved, the Alcazaba has acquired real celebrity in popular culture thanks to the filming of Conan the Barbarian by John Milius. It is indeed inside the ramparts that the sets of the feature film have been installed. Later, Game of Thrones also used the place to recreate the Water Gardens of Dorne.
