The Bardines cemetery is one of the two cemeteries of the city of Angoulême
Opened in 1808, the Bardines Cemetery is the oldest cemetery in the city. Created following a decree by Napoleon on June 12, 1804 prohibiting the burial of bodies in the heart of the cities, the city of Angoulême acquired a plot of land to install the current cemetery. With its surface area of 9.5 hectares, this cemetery with its rich architectural heritage is nicknamed “the little Père Lachaise”.
