Located near the cathedral, the Jesuit staircase leads directly to the Saint-Ignace church. It was built in 1738 according to the plans of the Italian architect Pietro Passalacqua. The latter was inspired by the Spanish Steps in Rome. The church itself is one of the finest examples of Baroque architecture in Dubrovnik. In particular, it houses a grotto dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes in France. The stairs served as a filming location for Cersei Lannister’s Walk of Shame scene in Game of Thrones.
