Address Chippewa County International Airport 5315 W Airport Dr, Kincheloe, MI 49788, USA

This former air base is now occupied by a community of over 2,500 people and the Chippewa County International Airport.

Used during the Cold War by the US Air Force, Kincheloe Air Force Base was built in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula in 1943 during World War II. She was named after Iven Kincheloe, a test pilot. After its gradual deactivation, the site continued to be occupied by a community. The former runways of the base have notably been integrated into the Chippewa County International Airport.
