Inspired by the Chateau d’Amboise in France, the Chateau Marmont was born out of the desire of a famous Los Angeles attorney to build a luxury apartment complex. When it was built, the building was described by the press as “the most beautiful building in the city”. Transformed into a hotel in 1931, it soon welcomed stars from all over the world, from Marilyn Monroe to Humphrey Bogart, including Scarlett Johansson and Jim Morrison.
