Address Casino de Monte-Carlo Place du Casino, 98000 Monaco

Designed in 1879 by Charles Garnier, architect of the opera house of the same name in Paris, the casino de Monte-Carlo is a prestigious Belle Époque style establishment.

Located in the heart of Monaco and surrounded by gardens, the casino also has a terrace with a view of the Mediterranean. It follows a first establishment inaugurated in 1863.

Thanks to the two successive casinos and real estate speculation in Monte Carlo, the Blanc family, whose patriarch François Blanc made a fortune in gambling, and the princely family both made huge profits.

This was one of the reasons why Charles III abolished taxes in Monaco in 1869. However, the prince also prohibited access to the casino to Monegasques. This was to prevent some inhabitants from facing croupiers of their acquaintance and thus avoid fraud.

Located on the route of the Monaco Grand Prix, the casino enjoys an excellent reputation and a very good visibility.
