The Ames Mansion was once the primary residence of Blanche Ames, an artist, botanist and women’s rights activist, and her husband, Oakes Ames, heir to a family whose wealth was secured by a manufacturing company of shovels. Open all year round, the Ames Mansion does not reveal itself in its entirety to its visitors. Only a few rooms remain accessible. Not only to tourists but also to shootings.
