It was in the early 1900’s that a man named Ralph Mounce had this luxurious mansion built for his brother Thomas to congratulate him on his marriage. During their honeymoon, Thomas and his wife bought several pieces of furniture to fill their new home. Tragically, upon their return, Thomas’ wife died of tuberculosis.
Nevertheless, he decided to move to Newport Landing at 98 Avondale Rd, where he lived until 1963. Since then, it is rumored that the house is haunted and that Thomas Mounce never really left. Perhaps that’s why when it was offered for sale in 2017, it sold for $455,000, $20,000 more than the listed price.
