Leadenhall Market
Harry Potter enters Hogwarts! To do this, he must have different accessories that he can only find at the Diagon Alley. A neophyte in the field, he is lucky enough to be accompanied by Rubeus Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane) to make his first purchases.
Of course, the Diagon Alley is invisible to muggles. You have to pass through the Leadenhall Market to get to the Leaky Cauldron and finally go to the shopping street specialized in choice items for wizards and witches.
The establishment is located nearby. But no magical creatures in the middle of tasting singular beverages, the 2-3 Bull’s Head Passage welcomes in reality an optician. Perhaps they offer the glasses of the famous wizard?
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone became the highest grossing film of 2001.
Leadenhall Market
It is not unreasonable to consider Leadenhall Market one of the most beautiful in the world.
Since the 1300s, the site has been home to a poultry market. In the early 1800s, a small goose that was smarter than the others managed to outwit death several times.
So the merchants decided to let the bird live among them in the market and named him Old Tom. When he died in 1835, the goose was duly buried and also given an obituary insert. Buried within the market itself, his grave is on the site of Old Tom’s Bar.
Designed in 1881 by architect Sir Horace Jones, Leadenhall Market remains a magnificent example of Victorian architecture, with its glass and wrought iron structure, cobbled streets, shop fronts and magnificent roof.
Entirely covered, Leadenhall is one of the oldest markets in London. Walking through it is like walking through time and experiencing the heart of the city.
