Forest
The scenario of Jurassic World Dominion has prompted director Colin Trevorrow to abandon the Hawaiian archipelago. It was therefore necessary to find new shooting locations. The Biosyn complex, in particular, represented a real challenge for the teams. The company that hosted the dinosaurs of Isla Nublar in its wooded sanctuary was thus installed in the MacMillan Provincial Park and more particularly at the foot of the giant fir trees of Cathedral Grove, where all the forest sequences were filmed with the actors DeWanda Wise, Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard With its giant trees, some of which are over 800 years old, Cathedral Grove offered a wonderful opportunity for the director to film the dinosaurs in their new habitat but also to set up some tense sequences.
Produced in large part in the heart of natural sites, Jurassic World Dominion, like the previous installments, also set up its cameras at Pinewood Studios near London. The interiors were thus built in gigantic complexes entirely dedicated to the production of feature films.
Initially approached to make an appearance in Jurassic World Dominion, Joe Mazzello and Ariana Richards, the interpreters of Tim and Lex in the first Jurassic Park, are finally absent from the credits.
MacMillan Provincial Park
This 301-hectare park, created in 1947, is located west of Qualicum Beach, British Columbia, not far from Port Alberni on Vancouver Island.
Part of the Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Reserve, MacMillan Provincial Park includes an area almost exclusively populated by Douglas firs. Known as Cathedral Grove, this perimeter is home to trees over 800 years old, whose circumference sometimes exceeds 9 meters. Visitors can also admire the Californian redcedar, the Vancouver fir and several specimens of Sitka spruce. Maples are also plentiful. It is one of the most popular natural parks in this region of Canada.
