Twin Peaks : the show’s secrets revealed in four books
A real monument, Twin Peaks appeared on the American channel ABC on April 8th 1990. David Lynch’s cult TV show starts with the discovery of the murder of Laura Palmer, a young high school student loved by all, whose body was found on the edge of a lake. FBI Special agent Dale Cooper is assigned the case to find the young woman’s murderer. His investigation is going to prove to him that appearances are deceptive. Laura isn’t really the girl everyone thought she was and the town of Twin Peaks isn’t exactly what Dale Cooper believed it to be… During the first two seasons, Laura’s murder is finally solved, but many mysteries push Dale Cooper to stay and investigate, especially about the famous black and white lodges...
In the last episode of season 2 (warning : spoiler for those who want to watch the show) Laura Palmer tells Dale “I’ll see you again in 25 years”... As promised, 25 years later the third season arrived on Showtime May 21st 2017.
It was highly anticipated and received mixed reviews. However, the challenge is met and Twin Peaks remains a great show. For fans or newbies, here are a few significant books…
As its title suggests, The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer offers the confessions of the young woman about her real life and not the one she gives to see everyday at school. Dreams, secrets, substance abuse, neurosis, Laura Palmer is an unsettling and conflicting character. This journal will please fans of the show who have many interrogations about the ex-high school queen. You should know that this journal was written by Jennifer Lynch, the daughter of David Lynch, the director of the show ! Another anecdote, this book is the basis for the scenario of the movie Twin Peaks : Fire Walk with Me directed by David Lynch.
