Once upon a time in Hollywood, a talented actress was murdered in her villa by disciples of the guru Charles Manson. Her neighbor, Rick Dalton, is a former TV western series star who tries, with his stunt double Cliff Booth, to make a name for themselves. The hippie movement is at its height along with massive anti-Vietnam war demonstrations. A new movement also appears, that of gay and lesbian liberation. A very alive period, which naturally inspired one of the greats of Hollywood, Quentin Tarantino.
Talking about filming in the city of angels, there is a vast repertoire of movie locations some of which are mythical. Amongst those, the Playboy manor that used to belong to Hugh Hefner. The famous residence, owned today by Daren Metropoulos, has accommodated the cameras for the directors of Pulp Fction and Kill Bill.
The Playboy manor has seen its lot of prestigious guests (Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Alec Baldwin) sulfurous parties, scandals (it’s actually here that Bill Cosby was accused of sexual assault) but the manor also contains multiple surprises: a mini zoo, gym, 22 bedrooms and a cave inspired from the one in Lascaux. A wonderful playing field!
This former residence of the adult magazine founder is located in Holmby Hills, an area part of the “golden triangle” with Beverly Hills and the Bel Air sector. Holmby Hills is also known for being the place where Michael Jackson died in 2009 and Lillian Disney in 1997.
The movie comes out August 9th, 2019 in the US, that is exactly 50 years after the murder of Sharon Tate, then wife of Roman Polanski.
