New York: the must-see places of Manhattan

Woody Allen has made Manhattan a melting pot of his passions. Jazz, women, friendship, art and especially New York. This one was actually a place to play in this movie, just as we realize it.

Sutton Place Park North

This is the location seen on the world famous movie poster where Isaac Davis (Woody Allen) and Mary (Diane Keaton) are facing Queensboro Bridge. As we mention in our guide New York of 1000 cult movies, series, musics, comics and novels locations, don’t bother looking for the bench the main characters were sitting on. The producers brought it here near the park entrance just to film this scene as the angle of the view was much better.

Museum of Modern Art

While he’s looking at a photography exposition in this museum with Tracy (Mariel Hemingway), his girlfriend, Isaac runs into his best friend Yale (Michael Murphy) with his mistress, Mary.  This first meeting is a turning point.

The Lake

Isaac and Mary go for a row on this beautiful Central Park Lake. This spot is extremely romantic. If you want to do like them, boat rentals are available from 10 am to sunset.

The Russian Tea Room

Isaac takes his son for dinner in this key New York restaurant created in 1927.  It’s really worth the detour to see the interior decoration composed of numerous artworks and antique furniture.

Isaac and Tracy talk while doing their shopping in this famous Upper West Side fine food shop reputed for their large choice of bagels, smoked fish and cheeses.  You can even eat here or have a coffee upstairs.
