Paris: Legendary Locations from Sense8
Situated at 36 m underground, this station is the deepest in the Paris metro system, as we mention in our guide Paris of 1000 cult movies, series, musics, comics and novels locations. It’s from this station that Riley Blue and Bill come out to go to this square where there is a magnificent carousel. The two characters leave again by the same metro but this time followed. Later, it’s also here that Sun gets stopped, before being saved, in extremis, by Mun.
Redecorated in 1994 by the comics authors François Schuiten and Benoit Peeters, the superb and atypical metro station Arts et Métiers is the theater for the combat between Will and the mysterious person following them since the metro Abbesses. It’s actually one of the rare stations that doesn’t have advertising on the platforms. Each porthole presents a small scenography, centered on the theme of the imaginary and discoveries.
When Rajan arrives in Paris to join Kala (Tina Desai), he’s dropped off by a taxi at this address. He goes into the building through this door, opposite the famous Marché de la Butte shop. Later, both of them are discovered by the BPO. Only 40 meters long, rue Androuet is one of the shortest in Montmartre. Jack Servoz, painter, poet and former dancer, displays his creations here.
It’s in this building on the second- to-last floor that the Sensates’ apartment is located. You can easily recognize the building in the scene where Kala threatens to jump out of the window if Wolfgang (Max Riemelt) shoots himself in the head. This street has marked fashion history as it’s at number 21 that Coco Chanel began her career in 1910, before opening, at number 31, her own couture house in 1918.
The ambush scene, and treachery, orchestrated by Lila Facchini takes place under the RER bridge. At the beginning of the 60s, it’s in this street, at number 42, that Alain Delon and Romy Schneider lived.
Disguised as a Frenchman with a caricaturist outfit topped off by the beret and bread baguette under the arm, Lito (Miguel Angel Silvestre) notifies the police of the terrorist risk that the BPO agents represent. They are arrested at this intersection.
Bringing to a beautiful end the wedding ceremony between Nomi (Jamie Clayton) and Amanita (Freema Agyeman), fireworks were set off from the Eiffel Tower, October 22nd, 2017, creating an enormous surprise for most Parisians who didn’t know about the filming.
When Rajan arrives in Paris to join Kala, his taxi drops him off just in front of the Marché de la Butte, made famous by the film Amélie by Jean-Pierre Jeunet.
Riley (Tuppence Middleton) and River El Sadawi meet in this cultural institute dedicated to the Arab world. Inaugurated in 1987, the building is easily identifiable by its moucharabiehs on the south façade. It was designed by Jean Nouvel and Architecture-Studio, and aspires to a synthesis between Arab and Occidental cultures.
The team of Sensates had to relocate their operational office in a « motorised unit ». It’s actually a pale pink truck that they park in front of the Provencal artisan ice-cream maker Scaramouche. Jehan-Rictus square, situated 150m away, is home to the “Mur des je t'aime” ( the wall of “I love you”), written in several languages, and where the dashes of color are the pieces of a “broken heart” brought together by so much love.
